DOCTRINE OF CHRIST

1. Word of God

66-book Holy Bible including 39 books of Old Testament and 27 books of New Testament is the Word of God for mankind. Inspired and guided by God, prophets and apostles wrote these books as a way God communicates with children of men, as a way God reveals His will for all generations, and as a way God chastises and warns men of their sinful actions.

2 Timothy 3: 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

It is not allowed for anybody to alter the Word of God, to twist the meaning of any passage, and to use the Word of God deceitfully for his own gain. By doing so, a man will have to face severe judgment before God Himself.

John stated in the book of Revelation:

Revelation 22

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

In English speaking world, the King James Version (KJV) of the Holy Bible is widely considered as a faithful translation from original languages of the Bible.

2. GOD and members of Godhead

GOD of the Bible is the ONLY TRUE GOD: Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient. There is no one beside Him, and there is no one like Him. God is the sole Creator of all things. He was before time and He is beyond the space of the universe. Even if heavens and earth pass away, He will not cease to exist.

Genesis 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Nehemiah 9: 6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.

Godhead

According to the Word of God, God is the Only God in the world and the Only One we bow down to. Worshipping other fake deities, humans, statues, objects, and images is idolatry. There are three members of Godhead: God the Father, God the Son also Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit, three in one. This is how The Word describes God: One God with three members of Godhead equal in power and authority.

Genesis 1: 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1 John 5: 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

3. Crucifixion and resurrection of Christ

Despite the Jews' disbelief, ministry of Christ was prophesied throughout the books of the Old Testament.

Isaiah 53

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried out sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Why did God have to apply this measure of punishment on His Perfect Son to save men?

Romans 5: 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Before Adam (and Eve) committed sin, the world was good in the eyes of God (Genesis 1: 31). After Adam and Eve hearkened to the subtlety of the serpent to eat forbidden fruit, sins enter to the world and "the wickedness of man" became so great "that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually" (Genesis 6: 5). This kindled the wrath of God, and He brought the flood upon the earth (Genesis 7).

Later, when the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, He instructed them to perform sin-offering for the sins they committed. They had to bring young bullock without blemish unto the LORD (Leviticus 4: 3); or a young bullock (Leviticus 4: 14); or a kid of the goats, a male without blemish (Leviticus 4: 23); or a kid of the goats, female without blemish (Leviticus 4: 28); or a lamb, female without blemish (Leviticus 4: 32).

We should notice that in those activities, blood of the animals was taken, and sacrifice animals must be without blemish.

To pay for the sin of all humanity, there is no better blood than the blood of the Righteous Jesus. There is no one that is pure enough to replace The Lamb of God. Hence, the sacrifice of Jesus is necessary so that whosoever believes in HIM shall have eternal life (John 3: 16).

Romans 5: 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

4. Salvation by grace

Many souls are totally unaware of existence of heaven and hell and of the eternal damnation that is waiting for sinners. Many may have some belief that heaven and hell are real, but they think there are many ways to go to heaven. Some believe that as long as they try to live a moral life then their good deeds outweigh their bad doings. However, God is clear that everyone sins, all is guilty, and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6: 23). The only way to escape hell is through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus. 

Romans 3: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Ephesians 2

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

5. Repentance

Receiving grace and forgiveness of Christ is an important decision for each human to do to have eternal life. However, to continue in the narrow road to enter heaven, believer must have a change of heart. He must become a new creature, he must forsake the old sinful way and commit to live a holy life until his last breath. There is no sin too big or too small with God. If believer falls into sin, he has to repent, ask for God's forgiveness and cleansing with the blood of Jesus.

Matthew 3: 2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

1 Corinthians 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

6. Water baptism

Water baptism is an act ordained by God for New Testament believers to show the world their new faith in Christ. Water baptism should be done soon after the conversion to Christianity. Water baptism must be performed with full body immersion in flowing or open water, no baptism by water sprinkling or pouring is accepted. Believers with full understanding of the importance of water baptism and desire to follow Christ should request this ceremony. Infant baptism is not biblical. 

Act 2: 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 8 

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

7. Baptism of Holy Spirit

Jesus promised that when He returned to the Father, The Comforter Holy Spirit shall come to guide and help us in our journey toward heaven. That promise was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost. The baptism of Holy Spirit and manifestation of the gifts of Holy Spirit are still available for believers today. There are many types of gifts from Holy Spirit: the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, the gifts of healing, the working of miracles, prophecy, discerning spirits, divers kinds of tongues, and the interpretation of tongues (1 Corinthians 12: 4-10). All these gifts are from the same Holy Spirit, and are given to individuals differently. We have to be responsible and mindful while operating with gifts so that we do not abuse the power God gives us, but we make the gifts profitable in our ministries.

Act 2

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

1 Corinthians 12: 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

8. Dreams and visions

In the end time, The Lord has different ways to reach out and correct His people due to His unfailing love. Dreams, visions, and revelations of heaven and hell are powerful methods God used to warn humanity. In the book of Revelation, John was taken to heaven and was allowed to return to write the whole book of Revelation. He was in the spirit (Revelation 4: 1-8). In 2 Corinthians 12: 2-4, Paul stated that he knew a man caught up to heaven.

There are indeed false revelations that believers need to be careful. For example, they are vision of Mary in Catholics, vision to Mohammad to lead astray Muslim, or vision from angels to lead astray Jehovah’s witnesses and Mormons. There were Near Death Experiences (NDE) that said even homosexuals go to heaven or everyone goes to heaven because God is a loving God. This is the false view of New Age or Universalism.

True revelations from God teach us about hell fire and the importance of living a holy and consecrated life. 

Act 2: 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

9. Inner purity and love

Christianity is modeled after characteristics of God. God is love and His children must possess the ability to love. It is to love God with all our hearts, to understand His will, to respect and obey His laws and commandments, and to seek true and meaningful relationship with Him. Rooted in that divine love, believers shall soon find themselves developing selfless love for others, even the ones that hate them or abuse them.

All malice, anger, envy, unforgiveness, backbiting, covetousness, gossip, hatred, and so on must cease as a result of true conversion.

1 John 4: 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Matthew 22

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

10. Outward holiness (modesty) 

God hates anything that involves falsehood. The obsession with outward beauty in current world drove many people to adorn themselves with artificial products. In Psalm 139 14, the writer declared how he was fearfully and wonderfully made by God. God's creation is good and no addition is needed.  It is ok and even praised by this society to put on vain face and body adornments, but with God, it is sinful and punishable by hellfire if not repented. Abominable artificial beauty includes makeup, hair dye, hair extension, hairstyling with modification of natural hair texture, hair attachment and fake hair, skin bleaching, plastic surgery, tattoo, fake nails and nail painting, earrings, jewelry, rings and wedding rings, deodorant and perfume, and so on. Immodest dressing with seductive power is also sin in the eyes of God such as garments that expose shoulder, breasts, buttocks, chest, muscles, arms, legs, belly and body figure; cross-dressing (woman wears pants and man wears dress); high heels that increase sexual image; and expensive, flashy, and shiny garments. 

Isaiah 3

18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,

21 The rings, and nose jewels,

22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,

23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

1 Timothy 2: 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shame-facedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Deuteronomy 22: 5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

11. Head covering

It is instructed that when a woman prays, worships or prophesies, she must cover her head with scarf, hat and the like. Contrarily, a man must not cover his head during times of praying, worshipping and prophesying. An increasing number of churches fell into false doctrine and allowed women to worship in their bare heads and men to worship with hats. This is a deception and God will not tolerate such error. True believers have to obey teaching of head covering in 1 Corinthians 11.

1 Corinthians 11

4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

12. Sexual purity and Marriage

Marriage is a sacred union between man and woman. God has ordained this relationship since the beginning of mankind as in Genesis 2: 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Sex must be reserved for lawful marriage and all forms of fornication and adultery are sins including masturbation, pornography, homosexuality, premarital and extramarital sex, polygamy, incest, pedophilia, bestiality, acts of oral or anal sex, divorce and remarriage.

1 Corinthians 6: 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

Mark 10

11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

13. Tithe and offering

Many people argued that tithe and offering were only mandated in the Old Testament and New Testament believers do not need to abide in the old law of tithe and offering. However, Jesus Himself, while reprimanding the Pharisees for their lack of judgment and the love of God, still reminded them not to leave tithing undone (Luke 11: 42 as below). Hence, tithe and offering are not done with in New Testament. Moreover, tithe and offering are the way the Lord uses to grow ministry and fund gospel preaching. By not paying tithe and offering, so-called believers rob God and hinder the work of ministry, leading many people to hell. God will have the right to curse these believers with tragedy and if not repented hellfire will be their portions. Tithe is 10% of the gross income with any type of gain (not after paying tax) and offering is when a person may have some extra blessing or the Lord puts in his heart to give for causes in the church. Believers have responsibility to look for holy church to attend, serve, and pay tithe to. Paying tithe to a corrupt or demonic church also attracts the wrath of God.

Luke 11: 42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manners of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Malachi 3

8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

14. Music in worship

Music has only one purpose that is to worship God. We can see many verses in the book of Psalms talking about singing praise to The Lord. The list of verses below is not even complete. We sing praise to Him because of His wonderful works, mercy, love and blessings. Music can be a medium to connect to God, a way of communication with Him. Nowadays, music is widely used to express couple love, love of money and drugs. These topics in music open the souls of listeners to demonic influence because music must be used to worship and praise God only. Furthermore, many worldly and degraded forms of music have infiltrated Christian circles. For example, Christian rock, rap, hip-hop, dance, reggae, blue, jazz, and so forth are accepted in worldly churches. Believers must be vigilant to sort out and get rid of unclean worship music to please God.

Psalm 105: 2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

15. Gathering of His people

Worshipping in congregation holds an important place in Christian life. Gatherings on the Lord's day, Bible study, revival meeting, special occasion service and yearly conference need to be respected and revered. Believers have to be punctual and prepared physically and spiritually for these worship service.

Psalm 95 

6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,

16. Evangelism

Personal and group evangelism are the calling in life for all believers. The desire to preach the gospel of peace will come natural as Christians walk closer to God. Evangelism shows the sincere love for other fellow men because we know hell is waiting for anyone that does not accept Jesus as his God and Savior. Ignoring this calling can be compared to murder. Evangelism is the will of God so that many will be saved, enter to His Kingdom, and enjoy eternal life. Every believer needs to know, through the guidance of Holy Spirit, what are the gifts that God gives him and then contributes those talents to the Great Commission.

Matthew 10: 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

2 Timothy 4

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

17. Restitution

After surrendering his life to Christ, a believer must repent of all wrongdoings such as stealing, lying, cheating, deceiving, betraying, backbiting, mistreating and abusing. The next step will be to recall the actions that have negative effects on others in the past and to correct them. Many will teach it is not necessary to do so and it is only the guilt the devil tries to condemn believers. This is the wrong doctrine that they teach and restitution is mostly not mentioned in churches. As it is written in Hebrews 12: 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: , restitution is a hallmark of more mature believers and an effort to live peacefully with all men when it is possible. If one steals, he must confess and return stolen things. If one lies, he must confess. If one cheats on husband or wife, one must confess with the spouse. If one cheats in exam, in certification, and in education, ones must confess. If one has debts, one must pay. If one steals or withdraws tithe and offering from God, one must pay. When confession and correction are done, the situation now depends on mercy of the victim to forgive. In some cases that are serious, counselling with spiritual leaders may be needed, but restitution must be done. Any leader that hinders restitution is false teacher. More prayer to seek guidance from God will provide solution. This is a hard topic and sometimes it seems impossible to correct all things, but with God's help, we can achieve it. Moreover, restitution will help believers not to do wrong things in future because of shame and trouble they have to go through to repay.

Luke 19

8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by the false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

18. Rapture of the church and Second coming of Christ

The world that we know and its order will be ended soon as the day of the Lord is approaching. It is such a great event that nothing in the past can be compared. Believers must have understanding of what is about to happen and how to prepare for that day. 

The rapture of the church

The true church of Christ all over the world will be raptured and gathered unto the Lord. Many teachers insist that Christians have to go through tribulation. It is true that Christians will face hardship, trials, tribulation, rejection, and persecution during their lifetimes to follow Christ. However, the great tribulation of end time is so fearsome and disastrous that no man can even imagine. Hell will break free on earth. Demons will torture human being and there is no way of escape. Men will wish to die, but they cannot. Christ spares the church of this period with one condition that they are completely pure and sanctified. This is an almost impossible task to achieve in this treacherous generation. Raptured saints do not have to endure great tribulation, but they must overcome all types of temptations and sins that are designed to be hard to resist. Moreover, the time of rapture is unknown to men and can be any moment from now. In order to escape the wrath of God, believers must be ready at all times.

Revelation 2: 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Matthew 24: 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

1 Thessalonians 5: 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

2 Thessalonians 2: 1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him.

The change of nature

The world that we live in is not meant to last forever. On that day, the sun shall be black, the moon shall become as blood, the stars shall fall out, earthquake and disasters shall be mighty, and the earth seems to be an inhabitable and calm place no longer. 

Revelation 6

12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

The mark of the beast

The devil and his fallen angels will have an open dominion over people for a short while. He will deceive people with signs and wonders and many will follow and worship him, even the elect of God. He, the deceiver, also put an order to force people to receive the mark of the beast either in the forehead or in the right hand. If anyone reject the mark of the beast, they will capture and torture them gruesomely. No one can buy or sell without the mark of the beast. Many will receive this mark because they cannot endure the torment. Anyone that receives this mark will not inherit Kingdom of God and will be condemned to hell forever and ever. No more repentance and forgiveness is available for that individual. Thus, we must reject the mark of the beast at all costs. What will be the mark of the beast, the name of the beast, or the number of the beast is still unclear. Revelation 13 18 tells us that the number of the beast is the number of a man 666. Recently, injected microchips or tattoos to identify people and make it easier for them to sell and buy have been proposed to be the mark of the beast. Believers must endure hardship and reject these microchips or tattoos.

Revelation 13

15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The second coming of Christ

Jesus is coming back soon at the time nobody knows to gather His people and pour out wrath and judgment toward sinful world. All shall see Him and His glory. The saints shall join Him in the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19: 9), while the ones that are not in the book of life shall suffer for eternity.

Matthew 24

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

19. Heaven and Hell

Hell is a place of eternal damnation. In contrary to false doctrine of Roman Catholic Church, purgatory does not exist. When people go into hell after death, they will stay there forever. The sad truth is that majority of people through generations go to hell because of sin. Hell is not a place of joy or pleasure, but a prison with fear, loneliness, guilt and torment. In Luke 16 24, the rich man was being tormented in flame. People in hell will be hungry with no food and thirsty with no drink. Family and friends are not there to help. If they are also in hell, they are busy to deal with their own torments. Love cannot be found in hell.

Luke 16

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Lake of fire

Lake of fire is the final and permanent destination of sinners, Satan, and his helpers. Hell will be also thrown to the lake of fire. There is no escape and the burning will continue days and nights.

Revelation 20

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Revelation 21: 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Heaven

Only saints who have no defilement are allowed to enter heaven. Everything is perfect in heaven. There is no sadness and pain in heaven. The LORD rules there and His light shall shine on the saints instead of the sun and the moon. True richness can be found only in heaven. No one can come and steal and no disaster can happen to destroy its residents' possession. 

Revelation 21

21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Revelation 22: 1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

The topics of bible doctrines are heavily borrowed from the book of Deeper Life Leadership Strategy Congress 2020, Page 44-103. Although the author strived to compose original work, ideas and revelations could have been inspired when attending Deeper Life Bible Church and listening to Christian music.

The Bible books used are of the King James Version by Hendrickson Publishers, ISBN 978-1-59856-461-7 and Holman Bible Publishers, KJV Large Print Compact Reference Bible. Some contents were inspired by boldfaced words, content pages, and reference systems from these Bible books.
