Ephesians 4
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak everyman truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
We as human indeed lie and even call some as harmless white lie.
Why is lying so evil?
Lying distorts the truth and gives wrong information and impression to the hearer. Some uses lying to receive more gain or favor. When this happens, lying happily coexists with his brother, stealing.
Some lies to avoid confrontation or lies to please others. These lies seem to be quick escape from troubles. However, it gives wrong impression to others. For example, someone asks if this thing is nice, we find it horrible, and we still compliment. The person may be pleased and make it as their business, which would surely fail.
Silence is a form of lying. Silence to preach the truth is lying and if you are Christians, you know the consequence for unbelievers as they do not know the truth. Silence to correct sin in love is lying and early farewell to our brethren before their arrival to hell.
Pretending to be a person we are not is lying. For example, people nowadays put on their makeup, jewelry and expensive ornaments to cover their natural beauty is a form of lying. May the Lord Jesus help us to stop lying in any way or form and to do restitution quickly.
